I might be wrong, but I think that would affect your speedo reading, As the overall diameter of wheel & tyre would be smaller. ie 45% of 195 is less than 50% of 195 205/45 would give same diameter as standard, not sure if 205 is too wide for 6" wheels though, maybe one of guys on here could...

Thanks guys, i see how mucky it is - if its bad i,ll try the overnight soak as suggested. Car runs ok apart from very slight hesitation when setting off, just want to cross it off the list to keep on top of things.
