There's a sensor attached to my 1.6's air box, is this the air flow sensor? Thinking about fitting my induction kit, so what would I do with the sensor? :?

This is it...

Might be an idea to fit the induction kit after the sensor? If not possible, then incorporate the sensor in the induction pipework?

Have you got the induction kit already? What one?

Dont see how its possible to fit the kit after it, with it being attached TO the air box. Already got the induction kit, kept it when I sold the Ibiza. It's a BMC CDA worth nearly £200 so wasn't giving that away lol.

Oh, that one - I thought you ment the one below in your picture - the Air Flow Sensor.

Not sure if the 1.7 has that to be honest :derr: Will have a look in a mo.

Don't think they do, but feel free to check. If it was disconnected would a light go off on the dash?

No idea! See if Tiggr knows - he had a 1.6 and 'tinkered' with it.

It does have the sensor but it's in the inlet manifold rather than the airbox. Had an argument with someone on PP1 once who insisted that it was the oil breather hose.

There's your answer Chris ;)

And I expect you will need it!

There are numerous ind kits available for the 1.6 so the only thing I can presume is that they have something there for the sensor as it's a specific kit for that exact car.

Some do some don't. I know for a fact that K&N only make one kit for the Puma, which is for the 1.7 so has no provision for mounting the AIT sensor.

They do one for the 1.4 and when I looked for a 1.6 one it directed me to one for the fiesta zetec s as it's same engine and presumably same set up for air box.

I think I'll sell my CDA kit and get something made FOR a 1.6 puma.

I was right in that kits made for a puma 1.6 do incorporate the sensor! SO, that's what I'll be going for. CDA kit is now for sale in the for sale section :)

Not quite Dal, my 1.6 was an S2 Escort Turbo lump ;) in place of the 1700 Zetec SE that had nikasil failure ;)

Nevermind Dal :p I'm gonna go for an open cone I think, fancy a bit more noise than I got with the CDA kit. Will just make sure it's getting cold air for maximum performance.

Cant you just drill & tap the pipe on the induction kit?
some people have to do this as induction kits often don't have this hole already there

Possibly yeh, but I'm after a change now. Want to try a different one really.
