ive got the 16 - 20 spoke alloys (or whatever number they are) pictured on mr martinthrapstons post, standard 15's, would these need spacers aswell or should they fit behind after alittle DIY grindage??

Link? 2mm spacers and very minor grinding and they will go on a treat. Use the std hose or if braided they MUSt be Puma length, after using ST170 (which were way to long and fowled the tyre on full lock (failed MOT) I got a new set of std ones (stupid me - should have never bothered with braided for a road car - at least not from a car that was not a Puma!).

I doubt Daniel mean with the Alcons as thereis a proven fords parts route to this.

300mm ST170 Discs (15mm bigger than the Puma Racing).
Mondeo Mk 3/ 4 Calipers and pad (these have he ffset to math te above), new pads (std Mondeo pads) and new 4x Mondeo Caliper bolts (after openingup the hub holes about 1-2 mill to take the larger diameter bolts.

Thats it - Mega braking.

I cant believe the FRP had just 285mm discs! It had bigge rms that much bigger disc. The Alcon H caliper (that Ford had tweeked for thr FRP) was designed for upto a 304mm disc. (You'd need a 16" rim most likely for that - I can just squeeze the ST/ Mondeo conversion under the td 15's  ).

Mind I have just bought some FRP disc (like new - so it must hve been crashed with not too many miles on it!) for a project car with noth of 500bhp (this willhave AP 304mm disc and alloy bells, but still drum rears as per te std Pums (It it a Puma though  )).

dangerous - are you sure on that rear spoiler!

frp discs are 295, h caliper is rated to 304 /305 but people have used upto 325

its not so much the disc as the caliper...the h caliper is a much more powerful setup than anything comparable from brembo etc as it has massive pistons for the size of caliper due to their being no dust seals....ie allowing use of bigger pistons...and its piston area that gives you the power.

i run mine without abs and on a 1.1 ton car they are more than enough! i can lock the wheels very easily

@Jellison, Daniel does use Alcon front brakes and Alcons are 295mm as Jacko has mentioned.

Cool - well you would if you have an original FRP!

I really need the wife to trade up to an FRP (only car I use at present).

As of interest (or not!) the JDM-Spec Toyota Supra MKIV uses 296mm front discs and has multiple-hole centres! The only problem is that the discs are 32mm thick, I have a worn pair (approximate 30mm) and was going to see if they fitted! They are totally different to the discs on my Supra as I have the UK-Spec TT with 330mm discs and BYFOTW 4-Pot calipers

The spoiler is cool ;)

Interesting to try - but the issue will be that you would need to space the caliper off to match the extra radius of the disc each side.

BG racing are the best for this - but if you are just "interested" probably not worth it.

You would most likely need >16" rim to get them in too.

The JDM Supra runs 8Jx16" alloys on the front (9.5 rears) with huge single pot floating calipers. I'm running 8Jx16" Escort RS Cosworth alloys on my Puma, although they look a little 'lost' in the FRP arches!!! I have considered the Focus RS 18" wheels and I also like the look of the Speedline alloys fitted to some of the Puma S1600's (see other thread!)

Hmm must be a tight squeeze getting those under the Supra's 16's!

What does an FRP have wheel diameter wise? 16 or 17?

Yep Speedlines are nice - I think 17's on and FRP would e spot on.

I'll have to look at some other threads on here!

Off topic - or should I start a new one? Anyone know how many FRP are left on the road? As loads of ex-FRP brakes come up on ebay and other bits - i.e. the cars clearly are no longer "with us"!

Not a Massive Puma expert - just know I like em and run a std 1.7 with the 30mm Eibach lowing spring and the ST / Mondeo setup - I love a good tinker.

Other cars = Racers.

17s on frp as standard with the lip on the chassis box section above wheel tucked over. im running 18s but they rub on washer bottle (used a fiesta one), rub on airbox (modded it) and rubbed on the tucked lip / wheel arch liner so removed, tucked lip up a bit more, and also rubbed on lip behind the wheel on lock so tucked that back a bit, same on very bottom of wing. rears catch the inner arch on full depression and sometimes catch the wing lip so tucked them back a bit too

need a really good offset on frp so they dont look lost. if not running frp front suspension youd need massive spacers and may still look lost

At least 3 different FRP's have donated parts to my car: the front wings came from a written off car in Birmingham
, the rear bumper from South Wales and the front bumper and rear beam from no.75 in Kent.

The 296mm JDM-Spec Supra discs are a no go for the Puma. Too much machining would need to be done and the discs would end up cracking. I have just found out that Peugeot 406 Coupes with Brembo front brakes have 305mm x 28mm front discs and the same 4-Stud pattern spacing as Ford!! These are available off eBay for around £80 so I wonder if these will work with the Alcon calipers.........

Good find, the caliper would need 5 spacing though.

I was thinking it would be better to machine 5mm off rarther than add spacers. I have been on Pumaspeed's website and seen the 'Ford discs machined to fit'. I am wondering what Ford these discs were originally for? I may just purchase those and see how I get on with them.

Well the ST170's are 300 so could be machined - but I bet there are loads of ford ones that go straight on the studs.

Maybe other Focus or Mondeo?

Yes 5mm off not a spacer (with you now).
