Question how long should it take to remove a 1.7 puma engine?.Working on my own it took me 8 sodding hours.I can remove AND replace an engine in an Escort mk 1 in much less time.Is it coz I'm old and not familiar with FWD cars,or is it time to stop frigging about with cars?? :?:

I stopped doing 'big' jobs on my cars as soo as my son was able to do them for me :)
I keep him supplied with cups of tea and advice when he gets stuck...seems to work well (for me) ;-)

I can just about clean an engine bay.... Changing an engine wouldn't be measured in hours, so congratulations, it's a more rare skill than you give yourself credit.

It used to be so much easier in the good old days when you had room to actually get your hands in to undo the things you needed to undo, plus of course there used to be a lot less things that needed undoing.

For what its worth I removed and replaced the engine in my Renault 30 in around 6 hours (I was much younger then)

FWD cars are a pain to work on so being able to do it at all gets my respect.

I always drop the engine and gearbox out as one it makes life a lot easier
Yep that's what I do with most engines but 8 hours!!!!.I'm so use to low tech cars we run a car from the 60s two cars from 70s and one from the 80s.All a piece of pi££ to work on....

Doesn't really matter how long it takes you as long as you get there in the end  i don't even count but i think it took me 10 hours roughly to get my evo engine out on my own,but there's a transfer box and propshaft to come off being 4wd,also have to split the engine and box as it weights a ton and my trolley won't take the weight lol,but then again im probably classed as old to at 36 :?

If you can get it done in a day then thats good going.

Quickest ever engine swap on a car ive done was a Puma conversion with my mate on his Zetec S Fiesta. 4 hours to get old engine out, new one in and running.

We did have a 2 post lift and a mountain of tools at our disposal in his workshop which helps.
