Well, I hope it's minor. As far as anyone is aware, is this significant?

You'll find it has spread deeper/further, once you start rubbing it down.
Here's one of my sills before removing the "kick strip", with rust hardly showing:

"kick strip" removed:

Rust removal stages:

I then treated with Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 - http://www.bilthamber.com/hydrate-80" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
followed by Bilt Hamber Electrox - http://www.bilthamber.com/electrox" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
No pics of these.

Then applied primer/undercoat:

Finally had it sprayed at the same time as the boot was professionally resprayed.
No pics of this.

That looks a good job. :thumbs: Do you reckon it's from the inside coming out or the outside going in? And, if the inside, is there any reasonable way of at least slowing it?

For the bits you can get to, Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80. Then (and for the bits you can't get to) Dynax S50.

Other anti corrosion products exist. I had a go at the inside of my wheel arches and the sills on my 'Skippy Kitten' project thread. No idea if it's been successful yet...

Outside going in, as it sanded down to bare metal. Inside coming out would have meant having a hole appear.

Have a look at my thread over on PumaPeople. It shows how I treated the inside of the sills:

This is good news!

I've had new cars with less rust than that. :lol: What did you do, steal your Puma from Ford's museum?

Am I right in thinking that you have a compressor and wands?

I assume you meant to put "I've had new cars with more rust than that", not less? :wink:

It was 5 years old when I bought it, had been garaged and only done 5,784 miles!
Carried out a full rust treatment back in 2009, and, so far, no rusty rear arches. The car has now done 42,000 miles.
