An ECU failure is not unknown but is extremely rare. More likely to be a sensor. Good luck.

ok tried the reprogramming with no joy so am still thinking along the ECU line ....................

Did you get it into learning mode? When it beeps?
I'd imagine it'd still do that..

It took me a few attempts to get it when I did it.

no it didnt do anything after quite a few attempts

well finally got the beep and everything but still not operating the locks..... lets hope the diagnostics show something up

If you can get it into training mode like it sounds you can, check the contacts to the battery within the remote as mine came out of place and needed to be bent back into place for it to work.
