    MR2 - Bargain basement

Well, after making a grown up decision earlier in the year to cut down on my project car habits, I've just gone and bought another one. I have history with Toyota MR2s having had 2 mk1's years back. When a stricken MOT-fail mk3 popped up for sale in my Gumtree alerts just 2 miles away, I...

    The Swift (not a caravan)

Well, after more than 4 years with my Subaru Forester, it was time to find something smaller, less juicy to run and a little bit more modern. I was after a warm hatch - 120bhp being my personal sweet spot for enjoyable hoonery without licence losing, and as simple as possible. Handling was the...

    ovloV

My old Subaru is getting rather leggy with some minor faults cropping up after 137,000 miles, so with great sadness, it was time to go shopping last week (or at least spend a brain-numbing amount of time looking through Gumtree). This is what I bought home today; One owner, FSH...

    Garage floor painting - preparation

I'm looking for some tips from any top DIY'ers! I've had to clear out my garage this weekend after a freak flood. It's all dried out now, but while everything is out, I have decided that it's time to paint the floor. However, as with anything preparation is the key! I've bought some concrete...

    Pretensioners. ARRRGHHHHH!

Ok, I'm at my wit's end with the airbag flashing light on the dashboard. Four flash, pause, four flash etc - basically the pretensioners. I've had this problem on and off for the last 4 years but usually some fiddling shuts them up for a bit in time for an MOT, but this year, nothing stops the...

    VCT solenoid - unsticking

Hi all, Electrical stuff is not my forte, so I wondered whether any of our sparky members could help? My VCT solenoid has stuck open. I've found a few places on the 'net that mention grounding the valve out many times to try and unstick it. This is worth a go as the other option is a camshaft...

    clutch release bearing?

More than likely. I expect that the clutch has been changed during the car's life as 141k on a clutch would be rather good going, but often they are done on the cheap and the release bearing isn't changed.

Millennium Recaro leather seats - tatty but comfy!

These are a set of Recaro leather seats from a Puma Millennium. These are a perfect upgrade from the standard Puma seats - far more comfortable, offer a slightly lower driving position and hold you in better! They also look great in earlier Puma's as they are very dark blue to match the early...

    Indicators kaput!! Help please!

I got halfway to work this morning before noticing that putting the indicators on did absolutely diddly-squat. The rest of the indicator stalk works properly, but no amount of prodding, goading or strong words have kicked them back into life. There is no sound from the relay. Any ideas on...

    Coolant temperature sensor changing

Hi de hi, In an effort to get the temperature gauge working, I've bought a new temperature sensor (genuine Ford one no less!). It's the one under the coil pack near the top of the engine. My question is, how much coolant am I going to have to drain before I can change it, or is it worth...

    Driveclub

Ok, well it's an arcade racer, and while I'm generally more sim-biased, Driveclub's one of the best racers I've played. The only problem is that I don't have any others in my friend list that play it. Does anyone on here play and want some friendly competition?

    Coolant temperature sensor

Has anyone got a definitive part number or link to a replacement coolant temperature sensor? It's the one under the coil pack that sends a signal to the dash. Lots on eBay but they come in all shapes and sizes and I don't trust ebay 'parts suit' lists! Cheers in advance!

    Well done Red!

I'd like to thank red for the successful upgrade to the forum! Should serve us well for years to come!  If you could could give the devs at my place of work a lesson on smooth migration, I'd be very grateful...

    MGF freebie

I went to our local barbers the other day for a cut and ended up, somehow, with a free MGF. The barber had bought this car about 4 years ago and hadn't really done any mileage in it, but the other day, the worst happened and it lost its coolant. Thinking the usual K-series issue of head gasket...

    Draining the fuel tank

My fuel pump is currently in its death throws so I need to drop out the fuel tank. However, law of the sod decrees that I stuck 30 quids worth of unleaded in the day before. I need to siphon it out before I remove the tank, but looking through amazon, most siphons are basically rubbish unless...

Door trims - can you remove the fabric inserts?

Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the fabric/leather inserts from the front and rear side trims? I've just come into the possession of some leather ones and it'd be a lot easier to swap the fabric ones with the leather ones without removing the whole lot! As ever, any advice...

    Key fob question

Bit of a noob question, but how do you split the key fob on a Puma 2 button fob? Getting to the batteries is easy enough, but I want to get to the PCB inside the key to check the switches as my lock button is very hit and miss. I've had a good look at it, but I can't quite grasp it and as it's...

Early style Puma power steering pipe

Hi all, I'm keenly trying to find an early type power steering pipe. It's the long piece that runs across the front of the radiator with four outlets. All I can find is the later loop type. This is the early style that I need; Obviously, it needs to be in good condition and not a leaky mess...
