I cut out my doors but found that it was better to fit lexon panels, looks much neater when remounting the door pulls.
God damn steel cut me to bits in the process tho :'( , and the door ate my cutting disks especially on the side closest to the hinges as its thicker.
But its always a good thing to get rid of the weight, do you find that the doors are well bendy, mine are.

Will post them tomorrow as got no pics, got a cage to but im being messed about with a date it will be fitted
the door pulls are a sod to mount like, i left in the bit of steel that runs 45deg to the bottom of the polly window so i could fit them to that, then drilled out the spot welds to release the majority of the steel.

not much done today pretty much going to leave it until the plastic arrives to make the door cards

removed all this crap off the lock though

another good weight saving! im guessing your going to be mounting the door handles on the plastic sheet to cover the whole?

are you refitting the locks?

Yeah the lock barrels. I'm going to try making a fixing to bolt to the piece of inner skin for the handles think the plastic will be too flexible

pics of some odds and sods

500mm of steel tube

thermostat housing as current one has developed a leak, fitted that tonight whilst still light, inc full coolant change and flush also

2 sheets of 2000 x 1000mm plastic sheet

P1070889.JPG

way too much but annoyingly the measurements are slightly over 1000x1000 and thats the next size they do

Steve about the OBD Connector, do you leave that in permanantly or take it out when you leave the car? will it drain the battery or anything?

as when i turn off the ignition the power light on the OBD stays on.

And what do you run yours on? I got torque on android.

Got torque but I use alap hd to. Power to everything including the obd is cut on mine when the isolator switch is turned off. On a normal puma without an isolator it could potentially drain the battery but would take a long time on a normal full fat lead acid battery

small update, was planning on doing more but some materials hadnt arrived yet

basically made some simple brackets from some spare ally sheet i had left over

P1070927.JPG

rivetted on the car

P1070930.JPG

and attached door pulls

P1070937.JPG

obviously you wont see my crude brackets when the door cards are made up

going to do something similar with the handles but as said waiting for some more ally to arrive

so got these door cards done

first up measured up a 1200mmx800mm piece to cut out, loads of wastage as the sheet is 2000x1000mm

P1080020.JPG

cut it out

P1070996.JPG

this was larger then what i actually need but the smaller piece meant it was easier to work with

made a template for the door handles

P1070997.JPG

drilled holes in the corners

P1070998.JPG

cut out

P1080022.JPG

then measured up the exact size i needed and cut it to fit the door

P1080001.JPG

measured and cut the slits for the door pulls

P1080002.JPG

then applied trim edging around the whole lot

finished pics of the cards on

the finish of the plastic isnt great, so i may vinyl wrap them, maybe even a scene colour like blue, or fake cf
