Puma 1.7 with Eibach springs £295

I have owned my Puma for 9 years but it's time to sell. A 1.7 with Eibach springs, EBC premium discs & Mintex pads. Bridgestone Turanza tyres at rear with reasonable tread, newer Pirelli P1 at front with approx 5mm. Good Bosch battery. 114,600 miles, being used daily to commute a few miles so...

Any thoughts or suggestions on this one?

I did check the switch under the clutch pedal as I had read that could cause problems but it is in place and secure.

Any thoughts or suggestions on this one?

My 1.7 Puma seems to have developed an irritating and potentially risky problem - When I take my foot off the accelerator to coast up to traffic lights or whatever, the car sometimes seems to lurch forward (like I had prodded the accelerator) and I can feel the car being pulled along. I...

    Braking Advice for Mintex M1144

Ive got myself some Mintex M1144 pads after reading some good reviews and wondered what advice you guys could offer on what discs to use with them for an occasional track day. Is it worth getting grooved &/or drilled discs or is the price premium not worth it? Do you think i should get Mintex...

    Best Pads For The Track?

Hi all, this subject may have been covered (please feel free to direct if it's already been asked!) but with everyone's experience, which are the best brake pads for track use? Ive got standard calipers but Red.Dot grooved discs. I had Red.Dot pads for my 1st & 2nd track day which seemed to...

    My new black puma

My bonnet would open slightly from pulling the release in the footwell, but the latch wouldn't move so couldnt open the bonnet properly. I prised the latch open with a screwdriver (carefully tho!) from the bonnets slightly open position, and when it was open properly I sprayed the whole...

Noisy engine - but only from cold

When I start my 1.7 Puma from cold, and begin to drive, there is a noisy ‘ticking’ sound from the engine. I don’t think its the tappets because the noise is only there (and gets much worse) when I’m applying throttle; tappets would probably be tapping all the time regardless of throttle right...

    How do I remove this....?

Hi all. I want to remove the carpets that line the rear wheel arches so I can clean them up. There are a few bolts that I can undo, but I don’t know how to remove the one below! Do I remove the plastic surround by simply pulling it, or lever it off, or twist the metal spine in the middle or...

Max Power Magazine is no more.

Surely someone at MaxPower could see this coming? It seemed to have a combination of tastelessly modified 80's & 90's hot hatches, with a few 'Fast & Furious' copies thrown in to try and attract a slightly wider audience. I'd say the modified car scene moved on from this..........about 10 years...

Puma Gets Track Action!! + Tyre wear Pics

Yeh I hung my nose over the Toyo R888 or even the Yokohama A048, but thought they were too steep an investment. It may be better long term to bite the bullet though.

Puma Gets Track Action!! + Tyre wear Pics

I left the tyres at their standard pressure. What would people normally advise, a bit more/less/or standard pressure? Im keen to hear from the track guru's out there!! :D

Puma Gets Track Action!! + Tyre wear Pics

Yeh do it, You'll have a great time! I was surprised how friendly people were at the track day, and although there were obviously safety rules, it was still a relaxed atmosphere. 8-)

Puma Gets Track Action!! + Tyre wear Pics

Yeh I think you're right, not knowing the track properly or going in too quickly leads to uneccessary tyre wear. Practice is what I need, which is a good excuse to go back and keep trying!

Puma Gets Track Action!! + Tyre wear Pics

So the Puma finally got a dose of what it was bought for. A day out on the track at Mallory Park. Had a brill day, and the Puma performed spot-on. I did about 200 miles and got approx 17mpg, which was better than alot of other people. A guy I spoke to in an Audi TT 3.2 Quattro was returning...

    My New FRP, Oxfordshire

Brilliant looking FRP you've got there. I think driving the Puma is about the fun you have with it and never the outright pace!! If you just can't live with a 1.7 (be it a nice one!) you could always consider another sleeper by slotting in a Coworth YB? Enjoy your FRP!
