cheers. I'll def get the back end ready with independent suspension and coilovers but she may be up for sale soon as im waiting for aston v8 vantages to come down about another 5k and im gonna get one! Depends how long that takes but i'll carry on with the puma until them :)

yep, single headlights for me though please :) with the 'stepnose' front and original alloys.

few for sale at mo but nothing below 60k! one last week (rally prepped) was going for 13!!!
 
Hey Jacko, hows the 4x4 conversion going? Have you needed to modify the tank at all for the propshaft? And does the transfer box clear the subframe? Im interested on this as its the next step after my v6 conversion. Going to use jag x-type 4x4 box as its mtx-75 4x4 with v6 bellhousing. And is more readily available than the escort/mondeo box, but otherwise identical.
I also have a feeling i might have to modify the exhaust setup too, but thats another bridge to cross when i get to it.
 
Its a slow goer!!!

im using the smaller rs2000 setup...which clears the subframe if you remove the 'nub' in the middle and chop it flat

fuel tank will require custom making...im not doing a saddle tank as per the escort tho...full depth one side and shallower over the prop shaft / silencer. prob going to be ali and designed to fill all available left over space to get it back up to normal capacity

exhaust will need modding to clear new links etc

update on mine is that the rear hub carriers are waiting to go off and have some camber machined off. next up will be making ali links with rose joints. just been far too busy moving house, ideally need to build a carport before summer and swap over the rear suspension but it aint gonna happen!!
 
Well i think i may have found out why my car won't run after its rebuild....alarm has been checked, keys have been checked....ecu!

ianG has sent me a MUFF to try (im running older wiring loom). i suspect the coil has fried the ecu and having changed sparks, coil and leads last night i found plugs 1 and 3 were drenched in petrol....sounds like one bank of the coil had died, possibly knackering the ecu.... fingers crossed i will have the ecu changed over tonight, swap the chips in the key and fire her up!

after that iv got a fresh set of locks to change and will need pumaspeeds frp map putting on....plus a million other things!
 
Forgot to mention the steering wheel boss....

its a genuine pucka RS turbo boss with 'ford motorsport' embossed around it, i lathed it down and matched it to a sparco puma boss, had the two professionally welded, then painted it with fresh wrinkle coat.....then i added a snap off kit....

but it gets better....!

i machined in a small multiconnector so that there are no loose wires for the horn!!!!
and it has spare connectors so i can run wipers, horn, high beam and a few others all from switches on the steering wheel if i want :)

just pull the levers, unclick the wheel....no loose wires!!!
 
4x4 conversion is for sale....

90% figured out
WONT need to damage the carpet, just needs the chassis trimming a tiny bit underneath the inner rear seat mounts (wont affect carpet or seats
most of it has been dry fitted
multilink rear INDEPENDENT rear suspension, bolts straight on the same as a tow bar would
modding the hub carriers will cost £70
3cm need adding to the trailing arms
some VERY RARE ford parts

this is the ONLY way to get a lightweight 4x4 system into a ford with minimal mods (no changes to chassis / strut tops etc) AND 60% REAR WHEEL DRIVE :)

POA, please be aware i am making no money from this, i am loosing some and i have seen the transfer box alone go for more than the asking price

add £200 and you get a brand new gaz gold coilover thats exactly the right length, with paperwork so you can order the second. I will always be on the end of the phone to help but i havent got the time and this needs a fresh owner

includes new polybushes, some bits refurbed, recommend new bearings in everything though....why go to all the effort and keep old bearings??!!
 
yep! immobiliser issue. suggest swapping back to frp / 2000 spec wiring loom and dash

Car is for sale, see pistonheads and ebay but I have been doing some sums....shes going to be worth more in parts!

IF I strip her it will be in mid oct but I am gauging interest....I recently sold a lot of spares so I know what prices are realistic for a quick sale and I don't want bits lying around....haggling will not be tolerated, offers above the realistic prices will be but the 'selling' will be done privately or through ebay

the following are the major assemblies and realistic prices, if your interested please let me know....and I will decide whether or not to strip her. some parts already have 'dibs'!

have a look through my build thread on previous page and treat it as a 'shopping list' lol

its still for sale so im not saying it will be stripped but I am interested to see if people want any parts

just sold a load of spares so I know what good / realistic prices are. I don't believe in frp tax or being ripped off for a quick sale, I believe in middle of the row, realistic prices
 
I'd be interested in a few bits, mainly the inlet manifold if the price is right and it's available... Also possibly the cams?
