    Money on the side

Hi all, Asides from the 9-5, or whatever hours we work, does anyone make money on the side? I've drawn for 10 years or so and I really enjoy it. I know, and people around me know that the talent is there, but I've never gone out to try and sell it. I figured local arts and craft fairs with a...

    Puma 1.7 Rebuild Mk II

Hi all, Let's get this project restarted and avoid what occurred previously. Plus rewriting this allows me to summarise where the project is up to without the need to scroll through 4 pages worth of thread. Efficient eh? Maybe I was German in another life. :-D So as many of you know I took...

    Rear Disc Conversion

I remember Pumabuild selling these kits. But I figure I can get them done with the guy doing the rebuild for cheaper. Anyone made the switch? Did you find much improvements? Also what is the largest brake disc size these standard alloys can take? Ed

    Memories

My second puma. Bought for £995 with around 70k on the clock bought 4 years ago. The day I got it I drove it to OC Motorsport to get an eBay second hand bargain Piper manifold, sports cat and exhaust system. It cost just shy of £600 fitted. Had a lovely pop and crackle when you lifted the...

    Aftermarket speedo

Can an aftermarket or race/rally style speedo be adjusted to suit larger wheels on a puma? I believe fitting larger wheels would mean your speed would show you were going slower than you actually were. I imagine these fancy speedos being as expensive as they are could be adjusted to compensate...

    How low did you go?

I'll be uprating the suspension at some point after the engine rebuild. My last puma bottomed out on standard dampers/springs with a Piper exhaust/manifold filled. Could've been to shoddy fitment, I'm not sure. Either way, how much have you dropped your puma by and has it made driving it more...

    Aftermarket Seats

Hi all, Who here has had much experience with fitting different seats into your Puma? What seats did you go for? Were they for comfort or performance? Anyone tried fitting heated seats or electronically adjustable ones? I'd like to get something more supportive, but it's that age old problem of...

    1.7 Puma Engine Rebuild

Hi all, Doing an engine rebuild of an X reg 1.7 puma. I've been looking online for parts for the rebuild. A friend of mine recommended trying to get OEM parts as opposed to pattern stuff where possible. I've checked Burton Power, eBay, Euro Car Parts, and a local company called Ivor Searle in...

    ITBs

So i'm losing my job. But being here 9.5 years i'm getting a very hefty redundancy so i'm setting aside a portion for my puma. With TIBs I know people on here quoted me 3k in the past. Now the ITBs themselves from LMS are £525. Injectors and possible an uprated fuel pump and any additional...

    Uh Oh....it broke

Soon as I pull out of work the aftermarket exhaust system decided to come apart. The down pipe decides to unclamp itself from the backbox on my car and I wind up sounding like a friggin' spitfire taking off. Imagine an impreza with the biggest exhaust ever and literally multiply that exhaust...

    A different Engine

Hi all, Does anyone know of any projects for a 2.5 ST powered Puma or a 2.0 Zetec turbo Puma? Am I right in thinking the Zetec 2litre would use same engine mounts? I'm sure I read about ST170 projects and the only real issue was mounting the gearbox? A mechanic I know who lives over the road...

    Brake Fluid

Hi all, Castrol Dot 4 brake fluid - any good? Comes in 1 litre bottles. How much will I want to change the completly? I'm uprating front brake discs, pads and all brake cables on pay day. Wondering if it's worth replacing all the brake fluid or what's best to do? Ed

    Flywheel

Hi all, Just wondering what the benefits are of an aftermarket and/or lightened flywheel? Is it mainly for torque response? Is it a worthwhile upgrade to do to a car as well as cams and ITBS? Ed

    Track Day Question

Hi all, Just wondering, with consistent hard driving, what are common things to go wrong with the car? I was looking at getting cams, HD valve springs, bearing and other bits n bobs LightningMotorsport provide, as well as throttle body and ECU. With that in mind i'd uprate the clutch as well...

    Puma 0-60mph

According to Parkers Ford Puma 1.7 runs a 0-60 time of 9.2 seconds. I clocked mine at 8.5 whilst holding a camera, pulling awkwardly out of a layby and not red lining each gear. I reckon I could probably shave it down to 8.25 with that in mind. Glad to see the manifold and full exhaust system...

    Puma Revving

Tiny video of the Puma engine and exhaust note up to 6k in 1st gear and into 2nd. Fitted with a 4-2-1 manifold and piper exhaust. Splutter Splutter. Can't get enough of the sound, it encourages me to drive fast and drink fuel  http://youtu.be/Uqt9sotVzhc"...
